Keshi Admits Nigeria Job Now Hangs in the Balance…

Stephen-Keshi
Under-fire Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has boasted that he has never been sacked in his coaching career, with his future with the Super Eagles now hanging by a thread, and the hammer looking more likely to fall on him.

Now he admits that he could lose the job. FOLLOW US ON TWITTER @6326david

But despite admitting that he could be replaced as the Super Eagles coach, the 52-year-old boasted that he has never been fired, claiming that the issue about his future has nothing to do with football, but just personal interests.

“My job is hire and fire. I’ve been to other places that I’ve coached before and I have never been fired and if it comes down to Nigeria, I’ve been here before,” said Keshi.

“I qualified Nigeria for the 2002 World Cup with Shuaibu (Amodu) and we were asked to leave, after we had won bronze at the Mali 2002 Nations Cup.

“This is not about the game, but about personal stuff so if tomorrow they say ‘Keshi leave’, hey, there’s no shaking.

“There are two or three other countries waiting and Nigeria will not be the last place I will coach because Nigeria is not the last place they play football.”

It is believed that Keshi will be asked to step down immediately after Nigeria’s AFCON qualifying campaign, even if he eventually qualifies the reigning African champions to next year’s edition of the tournament.

The NFF are yet to confirm if Keshi will be retained, and neither have denied reports that he will be asked to step down irrespective of how Nigeria finishes in qualifying group A.
