Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has commenced sensitization of party faithful and residents on democratic processes and gains in the country.
The party also empowered no fewer than 3,000 youths in Ikorodu axis of the state.
APC chieftain and former Lagos State Commissioner for Rural Development, Prince Lanre Balogun, who spoke at a weekly empowerment programme for residents and party faithful in Ikorodu, disclosed that some Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, stalwarts in Ikorodu would soon defect to APC.
“With the planned defection of Adeyeri to APC, PDP is dead in Ikorodu division. PDP can say whatever they want to say but they do not have any chance in Ikorodu anymore. We can now boast that Ikorodu is now for APC,” he said.
On sensitization, Balogun said that lack of in-depth understanding of democratic process and gains made some electorate accept stipends from some parties to cast their votes in favour of certain candidate.
He said: “We believe that if we enlighten Nigerians on democracy, they will not accept stipends from any party to influence their votes.”
